Pupil Leadership
At Holt Farm Infant School, we value everyone’s voice and encourage our children to develop the social confidence and ability to make relevant and thoughtful points, listen attentively to the views of others, behave with courtesy and good manners and speak persuasively to an audience. To encourage the development of character and citizenship skills we offer a range of pupil leadership opportunities as the children progress through our school.
Everybody has a chance to put themselves forward for any of the pupil leadership roles and responsibilities. As a school, we listen to why they feel they would be good for a job and then we vote for the person we think is most suitable.
Each child elected wears a badge to show how much we value and respect their role within our school community. The current pupil leadership roles include:
School Council
At the beginning of each academic year, new representatives are elected by their class to join the school council. They work with staff members, the SLT and school governors to represent the views of all pupils and provide valuable pupil voice when planning for improving the school. They also help to make decisions about how the school is run and take on projects that support the children’s learning and development, such as organising charity events or representing the school at outside events.
Eco Warriors
Our HFI Eco Warriors care passionately about our environment and work together to ensure that the school fulfils it's promise to focus on environment and sustainability projects that link to our school Climate Action Plan and our school Travel Plan. They help staff, children and the local community learn about ways to be more environmentally friendly and sustainable.
