British Values

At Holt Farm Infant School, we are dedicated to nurturing young minds and instilling fundamental British values.

Democracy

A key component of our educational ethos is the understanding and appreciation of democracy. We believe it is crucial for our children to learn about democratic principles from an early age. This includes understanding how everyone has a voice and the importance of using it wisely. Through classroom discussions, school council elections, and participation in various decision-making processes, we provide our students with practical experiences of democracy. These activities are designed to empower our pupils and prepare them for a life of active and responsible citizenship.

The Rule of Law

Understanding and respecting the laws of the land is crucial, and we aim to educate our pupils about the importance of this value from an early age. We believe that by fostering a sense of respect for the law, we can help our students grow into responsible and conscientious citizens who contribute positively to our community. Our curriculum is designed to ensure that children grasp the concept of the Rule of Law through engaging activities and real-life examples, making the learning process both effective and enjoyable for our young learners

Individual Liberty

We are committed to fostering a nurturing environment that champions British values, with a strong emphasis on promoting Individual Liberty. We believe it is crucial for our children to learn to make choices and express their preferences in a safe and supportive setting. This not only aids their personal development but also prepares them to respect and acknowledge the freedoms of others. By integrating these principles into our curriculum and school ethos, we aim to equip our pupils with the confidence and respect needed to thrive as individuals in a diverse society.

Mutual Respect

We believe that understanding and respecting each other’s differences is crucial for the personal development of our children and for preparing them to be thoughtful, contributing members of society. By promoting mutual respect, we encourage our students to form positive relationships and to support a community where every individual is valued and heard.

Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

We believe in the importance of promoting tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. Our curriculum and school activities are designed to foster an environment where every child learns to respect and accept others, regardless of their religious or cultural backgrounds. This approach not only enriches our school community but also prepares our students to be thoughtful and responsible members of society.
